Tsavorite is a vibrant green variety of thegrossular garnetmineral, valued for its intense color, brilliance, and durability. It is colored by trace amounts of vanadium and chromium, with the most desirable stones having an intense green to blue-green hue. Discovered in Tanzania in 1967, it gets its name from the nearby Tsavo region in Kenya, where it is also mined.
