Additional information Shows crisp multicolors with a clear clean pattern across the entire gem. Displays more green color or more orange yellow depending on lighting conditions. Very unusual pattern in this gem!
This item has received several coatings of high quality epoxy resin. As you will notice this is an extremely common process with ammolite and not only does it show a brilliant finish to the gem but most importantly protects it from the elements. This gem is now perfectly stable and protected for a lifetime ! Epoxy resins tend to discolor and yellow in time, for this reason UV PROTECTION coatings are a MUST to produce a quality ammolite gem.
The photographs and / or video of this stone were taken with indoor lighting. Richer and more illumination of color will show in natural sunlight. This ammolite is hand cut and polished and ready for resale or setting in jewelry.
All items are genuine and untreated unless clearly stated in the above description section.

some useful ' Ammolite ' information
Ammolite, the opal - like gemstone, is one of the rarest on earth. Although being over 70 million years old they are one of the newest gemstones, granted its status by the 'World Jewellery Confederation' in 1981.
Red color is fairly common, unlike precious opal where red is rarer and the most valued. Ammolite is mostly found in reds and greens with blues and purples being less frequent and therefore more valued. The stones that show brighter color, are less directional and with colorplay, and show three or more colors are the greater in value. Also, as with opal, the type of pattern plays a part in the stones value too.
Ammolite is only a thin sheet and is very rare without its matrix which is mostly limestone or shale, sometimes clay and is often flakey. For this reason it is common practice to stabilize stones by coating / impregnating them with a resin or epoxy, this is a form of treatment, for protection against further deterioration of the stone. All our ammolite items are genuine. They have been crafted and polished using the same techniques as with our opal and many have not been treated or coated unless clearly stated in the above description section.

Why are users outbidding themselves?
When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a person is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on behalf of the bidder, incrementally increasing the bid up to the maximum to maintain their position as the highest bidder.
When there is an icon indicating 'Automatic Bid', it means our system is actively placing bids for the bidder based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if bidders are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the bidders maximum limit.
