6.5ct 10.4mm blue Sapphire drop shape Cabochon GF Fissure filled 10.4 by 9 by 6mm 446632
Stunning deep blue gemstone cabochon.
This gemstone has undergone Fissure filling treatment. The RI and Secific Gravity of these GF gems vary slightly from natural Sapphire. Please note we have included a microscopic photo of a GF Sapphire so our customers know exactly what the treatment looks like and know what to look for when buying Sapphires as there are many being sold by unscrupulous sellers as natural on the internet. GF Sapphires are becoming more prevalent.
Sapphire Gemstone Information
Sapphire is the name for all members of the Corundrum group, apart from Red which is Ruby and another variety called Padparadscha, a pinkish orange variety. When used alone the name Sapphire assumes Blue Sapphire. Corundrum is the hardest stone after diamond.
Sapphire is the birthstone for September. The 423-carat (85 g) Logan sapphire in the National Museum of Natural History, in Washington, D.C., is one of the largest faceted gem-quality blue sapphires in existence.
History of Sapphire
In the middle ages it was said that Sapphire preserved chastity, discovered fraud and treachery and protected from poison, plague, fever and skin diseases.
Sapphire Visuals
In the gem industry, color in gemstones is referred to in three components: hue, saturation, and tone. Hue is the “color” of the gemstone. Saturation refers to the strength/depth of the color of the gemstone or ‘colorfulness’ and tone is the light to dark of the color. Songea Sapphires deserve a special mention here: these are bright Sapphires in shades of orange, red, tangerine, saffron, golden yellow and green. They are mined in Tanzania and treated in Thailand to change the color. More is mentioned in the section on treatment. Colorless sapphires are sometimes used as diamond substitutes, so beware. Padparadscha is a pink-orange sapphire; the rarest of all has no signs of treatment. Star stones are common; the clearer the star and stronger the base color, the higher the value. Diffusion treated star stones are common in the marketplace.

Why are users outbidding themselves?
When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a user is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on that users behalf, incrementally increasing the bid to maintain their position as the highest bidder, up to the specified maximum.
When there is an icon indicating 'Auto Bid,' it means our system is actively placing bids for the user based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if users are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the users maximum limit.
