The precision custom of these stone is calibrated to maximize three things: the color, the cut quality, and the clarity. Unlike native cuts, which are cut to maximize weight, as wholesale gem dealing is done on a price per carat basis, precision cut gems are cut using computer models that maximize the beauty of the stone. 

Precision cutting is much more expensive as the technology is costly, the master cutters who are skilled in the trade are costly, the loss of weight is costly, and the increased time to bring the stone to market is very costly. Despite these costs, many argue (correctly) that precision cutting is worth it in many cases. The results speak for themselves. Vivid color saturation, fire and scintillation at every angle, and exceptional clarity that maximizes brilliance.
