Amazonite gemstone information: The stunning gem Amazonite is a feldspar gemstone. These are divided into potassium feldspars and the plagioclases. Amazonite, moonstone and orthoclase are all potassium feldspars (alkali). They have a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, and a vitreous lustre. Amazonite is a gemstone variety of green microcline. It is named after the Amazon River in Brazil, though no deposits have been found in that location. It exposes its beauty best in daylight, more precisely just after Dawn and before sunset, when the light is warm and soft. Turn the gem to different angles and you will see the glassy Schiller 

Amazonite healing properties: Amazonite is said to calm one's emotions and soothe nerves, and to enhance creativity and the ability to express oneself.
