Named after Australia's national flower, wattle sapphires feature a distinctive yellowish-green colour tone that delicately separates to reveal contrasting hues, producing a striking visual effect. Wattle sapphires originate from the Gemfields in Queensland, Australia.
Originating from the Latin word for Blue – sappirus – Sapphires exists in many colors including yellow, purple, blue, pink, green but also in white. The trace elements in the mineral corundum bestow Sapphires their color. Known as one of the most durable naturally occurring elements in the world, the only natural thing that can scratch a sapphire is diamond.
Thanks to its durability Sapphires make up great gems for daily wear too. Since second to diamonds sapphires belong to the strongest natural gemstones. Being the birthstones of September, they are traditionally gifted for 5th and 45th wedding anniversaries.
Associated with loyalty and dignity it is believed also that Sapphires can help managing and relieving depression, tensions and bad feelings.
