Hayne is a highly sought-after gem due to its rarity and incredible, electrifying color. Also called haynite, it was named in honor of 18th century French scientist and crystallography pioneer Ren-Just Hay, who many consider one of the fathers of modern gemology. Its first mention was in 1807 when crystals were discovered among volcanic lavas in Italy. It is known for its electric blue color, but can also be found in white, gray, yellow, green and pink colors.
