The sparkle effect is caused by the reflection of light from tiny disc-like presences made from copper or iron ore. Schiller effects come from very tiny inclusions within a mineral, which refract and reflect incident light. Schiller’s play of light in those waves gives the inside of the mineral a flicker of light, even though nothing is in it. An example of this would be the path that is seen on the ocean’s surface when the moonlight hits it. The moonlight is always vertical to the waves, as their angle to reflects it back towards the person’s point-of-view.
