However, it can be distinguished by its linear striations, which are characteristic of tourmaline crystals. Rubellite is also softer than ruby and spinel, with a hardness of 7-7.5 on the Mohs scale.

Rubellite is commonly found in Brazil, but it can also be found in other countries such as Madagascar, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and the United States. It is frequently faceted into various shapes and used in jewelry, including rings, earrings, and pendants. Due to its stunning color and rarity, rubellite is highly prized by gemstone collectors and enthusiasts.
