Amethyst geodes are sourced in south America mostly in Brazil and Uruguayan. They are also found in thousands of locations around the world including Australia. Amethyst Geodes are formed in volcanic areas and are a variety of quartz crystal.
Scientists are still not 100% sure how these Amethyst geodes are formed as it is bedrock on the outside and stunning quartz crystals inside so you have to consider how the cavity was formed in these geodes. These cavities are actually filled up with silica rich liquids containing traces iron that give the purple colours that amethyst geodes are know for.
In 2011, MyGems owner (Wayne) went to Brazil in search for a healing stone. Through a mining tour of Brazil Wayne found exactly what he was looking for, a massive 1.04 tonne amethyst geode. He quickly shipped this beautifully large mystical piece to the MyGems shop on the Gold Coast.
Amethyst is known for protection, purification, healing, helping one to move into higher states of consciousness and to clear away negative energies from oneself.
When the amethyst geode arrived, it was like unwrapping a Christmas present, as all the staff were gathered and ecstatic to see this miracle piece of specimen. The rather large and heavy amethyst geode was unveiled and everyone’s eyes were wide opened, as the glimmering large amethyst poured out it’s wonderful positive energy in the room. The large geode was made to stand, but all the staff commented that it looked better laying down.

Everyone that comes into the presence of the Amethyst always comments on the energy they feel resonating from this massive geode. People have constantly requested to hire the same room where the Amethyst is placed so they can lie in the room and have an energetic exchange.
The room has been noted to definitely have a fantastic feeling of good holistic energy, so much so that people have started to leave wishes. Currently there are hundreds of wishes surrounding the crate carrying the amethyst geode.

Amethyst Spheres are popular with amethyst collectors and each one is so unique in amethyst colour and crystal formation.
These small geodes are around hand size and best way to check is to hit blunt chisel to crack open the geode to see if any crystal formation inside.
It is very time consuming to hitting the geode as can take up to 20 hits with 1lb hammer to crack open .Over half are solid and some are chalcedony so its good to find amethyst crystals
