Originating from the Latin word for Blue – sappirus – Sapphires exists in many colors including yellow, purple, blue, pink, green but also in white. The trace elements in the mineral corundum bestow Sapphires their color. Known as one of the most durable naturally occurring elements in the world, the only natural thing that can scratch a sapphire is diamond.
