Zircon is mined down tunnels that go down to a gravelly layer where the rounded zircon pebbles are found. A pump is needed to pump out ground that constantly seeps in. Many stones are heated to see if they can get the prized red and blue colors. The stone is eye clean and I didn’t see anything under the loupe.
