For centuries, the Ruby has been known as the "King of Gems." With its intense, fiery red hue, it has symbolized passion, protection, and prosperity across countless cultures. More than just a beautiful stone, a fine ruby is one of the rarest and most valuable gems on earth.
Just like fine wine, a ruby's origin story adds to its value and allure. Certain geographic locations are famed for producing rubies with unique, desirable characteristics.
· Burma (Myanmar): The gold standard. Burmese rubies are celebrated for their exceptional color—that intense, vibrant "Pigeon's Blood" red with a strong red fluorescence that seems to make them glow from within.
· Mozambique: A relatively new but hugely important source. Mozambique rubies are prized for their excellent clarity and saturated red color, rivaling Burmese stones at a more accessible price point.
· Thailand & Cambodia: Often known for darker, more brownish-red tones, these stones are frequently used in higher-end jewelry and can offer great value.
· Sri Lanka: Typically produce rubies that are lighter in tone, often leaning towards pinkish-red, with a bright, sparkling appearance.
The Enhancement Note
It is standard industry practice to heat-treat rubies to improve their color and clarity. This process is permanent and stable. Over 95% of all rubies on the market are heat-treated. Unheated rubies of fine quality are extremely rare and command a significant premium. A reputable seller will always disclose if a stone has been treated.

Why are users outbidding themselves?
When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a person is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on behalf of the bidder, incrementally increasing the bid up to the maximum to maintain their position as the highest bidder.
When there is an icon indicating 'Automatic Bid', it means our system is actively placing bids for the bidder based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if bidders are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the bidders maximum limit.
